High frequency behavior of a space charge rotating in a magnetic field

    Get PDF
A theoretical discussion is given of the propagation of electromagnetic waves in a space charge which is rotating under the influence of a uniform magnetic field. Equations are derived for the relations between the amplitudes of the electric and magnetic fields, charge density, electron velocities, the applied magnetic field, the frequency, the phase velocities, and the effective dielectric constant of the space charge region. In particular, the natural frequencies are computed for such a space charge rotating about an infinitesimal conductor and enclosed by a coaxial conducting cylinder. The predicted resonant frequencies agree well with experimentally observed values for magnetron oscillators. The theory here developed is also applicable to other devices in which a rotating space charge is utilized

Effects of using different plasmonic metals in metal/dielectric/metal subwavelength waveguides on guided dispersion characteristics

The fundamental guided dispersion characteristics of guided light in a subwavelength dielectric slit channel embedded by two different plasmonic metals are investigated when varying the gap width. As a result, an overall and salient picture of the guided dispersion characteristics is obtained over a wide spectrum range below and above the plasma frequencies of the two different plasmonic metals, which is important preliminary information for analyzing this type of subwavelength waveguide. In particular, the effects of using two different metals on the guided mode dispersions are emphasized in comparison with the effects of using the same plasmonic metal cladding.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures, typos corrected, reference added, text modifie

Un PEI construido desde abajo entre los a?os 1994 y 2012 que llega a fortalecer el contexto social incidiendo en la inclusi?n social de la comunidad, el contexto social, educativo y cultural, de esta manera contradiciendo los efectos limitados de proyectos educativos an?logos pero construidos desde arriba; logrando as?, una propuesta de escuela de puertas abiertasThis work intends to describe a process of social inclusion of the urban marginal population of the area known as "Los Comuneros" suburb of the municipality of Garz?n, Huila Department, derived from the pedagogical experience as an institutional project (PEI), made in the public school The Comuneros, today incorporated to the educational institution Jenaro Diaz Jordan as the branch Gaitana-Comuneros. The importance of the work lies in showing how an educational process that is built from the ground up, requires and achieves a significant impact of social inclusion with the participation of community based. An PEI built "from below" between the years 1994 and 2011 that arrives to strengthen the social context incising on the social inclusion of the Community, the context of socio-educational and cultural, this way contradicting the limited effects of analogous educational projects but constructed "from above"; thus, a proposal of open doors school. Characterization of charge collection in CdTe and CZT using the transient current technique

The charge collection properties in different particle sensor materials with respect to the shape of the generated signals, the electric field within the detector, the charge carrier mobility and the carrier lifetime are studied with the transient current technique (TCT). Using the well-known properties of Si as a reference, the focus is laid on Cadmium-Telluride (CdTe) and Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride (CZT), which are currently considered as promising candidates for the efficient detection of X-rays. All measurements are based on a transient-current technique (TCT) setup, which allows the recording of current pulses generated by an 241Am alpha-source. These signals will be interpreted with respect to the build-up of space-charges inside the detector material and the subsequent deformation of the electric field. Additionally the influence of different electrode materials (i.e. ohmic or Schottky contacts) on the current pulse shapes will be treated in the case of CdTe. Finally, the effects of polarization, i.e. the time-dependent degradation of the detector signals due to the accumulation of fixed charges within the sensor, are presented.Comment: 20 pages, 17 figure

Digital leadership and organizational capabilities in manufacturing industry: A study in Malaysian context

    Get PDF
The research is conducted to study the outcome of digital leadership on dynamic capabilities, innovation capabilities, and alliances capabilities in manufacturing industries within the Malaysian context. Today, developing corporations and industries, at the least, require a virtual transformation to have greater organisational abilities in shaping and growing their new and present commercial enterprise to healthy the brand-new generation paradigm. A cross-sectional quantitative method has been used in this study with a sample of 132 respondents with different industry back grounds. These respondents are organisations, which are based on the nature of a business role like authorised representative, distributor, importer, manufacturer, combination authorised representative, distributor and importer, and combination distributor and importer that located in Selangor, Malaysia. The research used the SMART PLS software to analyse and interpret the results. There main hypotheses are proposed and tested. The results showed that digital leadership positively affects dynamic capabilities, innovation capabilities, and alliances capabilities

Alastair P. Hibbins, Matthew J. Lockyear, and J. Roy Sambles, Physical Review B, Vol. 76, article 165431 (2007). "Copyright © 2007 by the American Physical Society."Perfectly conducting metals may be structured with holes to make metamaterials that support surface-plasmon-like modes at microwave frequencies. Results are presented for Fabry-Pérot-like standing wave resonances formed from coupled surface-plasmon-like modes supported by two such perforated metal substrates placed in close proximity
